Curatorial Intern - Contemporary Art

Description:
Join the Curatorial team as an intern assisting with research for upcoming Contemporary art exhibition projects. Assignments will include helping to develop and manage object checklists and image files and primary and secondary source research as directed. Tasks will include data management including photocopying, scanning, collating, organizing, filing and managing paper and digital files. Projects will be related to exhibitions focused on Contemporary women artists of color. This position will report to the Associate Curator.

The intern will support research efforts of curator and interpreter, including history of textile trade and its connections to the transatlantic slave trade. The opportunity includes collaborating with team members to provide transcription support of hymnals and other library materials in the exhibition. The intern will provide valuable exhibition support, including checklists, labels, photography, and research. Must be proficient in Google and Microsoft suites, extremely responsible, timely and organized. Most of all eager to learn and excited about the opportunity. Remote work is ok if the intern has access to library materials.

Qualifications:
Internship Qualifications: College or graduate student with a demonstrated interest in art history or material culture. Coursework in art history is strongly desired. Qualified candidates should be enthusiastic, articulate, organized, self-motivated, and willing to assist with a variety of administrative and curatorial tasks related to the projects. The best candidate will have experience conducting academic research, be extremely detail-oriented and able to work on a variety of tasks as priorities require. Candidates must be able to interact in a professional manner with museum visitors and staff. Must be proficient in Office Suite applications with an emphasis on Microsoft Word and Excel. One internship opportunity, 15-28 hours per week.
