Curatorial Intern - Fashion and Textiles

Join the curatorial department as an intern assisting with research for upcoming collections gallery installations and rotations and recent acquisitions in the museum’s fashion and textile collection and other museum collections as needed. Assignments will include helping to develop and manage object checklists and image files and primary and secondary source research as directed. Tasks will include data management including photocopying, scanning, collating, organizing, filing and managing paper and digital files. Projects will be related to upcoming gallery rotations in the Fashion & Design gallery and collections based exhibitions under development. This position will report to Curator, Paula Richter.
Internship Qualifications: College or graduate student with a demonstrated interest in fashion and design, art history or material culture. Coursework in fashion and art history is strongly desired. Qualified candidates should be enthusiastic, articulate, organized, self-motivated, and willing to assist with a variety of administrative and curatorial tasks related to the projects. The best candidate will have experience conducting academic research, be extremely detail-oriented and able to work on a variety of tasks as priorities require. Candidates must be able to interact in a professional manner with museum visitors and staff. Must be proficient in Office Suite applications with an emphasis on Microsoft Word and Excel. Must have the flexibility to work 15+ hours per week.
