Executive Director – (salaried, part time)


The Amesbury Carriage Museum seeks an experienced museum professional to lead the organization into an exciting new period of community engagement. The Executive Director will work a flexible schedule based on 30 hours per week (schedule to be determined) with some weekend and evening hours required. Annual salary is $46,800 with two weeks’ vacation. There are no other benefits for this position.

The Executive Director provides leadership and oversight for all areas of museum operations – including the newly-opened Industrial History Center and an innovative portfolio of community-focused programs. The Executive Director works closely with the Board of Directors, and manages the work of 2 part-time employees and a vibrant pool of volunteers. The Executive Director serves as the face of the organization and is active within the community to form and sustain lasting and dynamic relationships. The position will evolve as the ACM achieves new levels of development.

The Amesbury Carriage Museum is a small local history organization with a mission focused on the history of industry and worklife in the region. The Industrial History Center serves as our program venue. This is a great opportunity to build a community-history project. For more information visit


The position requires a degree in history or museum studies, five years professional experience managing a museum and staff, a successful track record raising funds, and experience creating fun and engaging public programs.

About this Organization:
The Amesbury Carriage Museum is a small history organization in Amesbury, Massachusetts. Our mission is to champion the history of Amesbury industry and people and we strive to do that with programs and events for adults and families. The ACM is a museum without walls. We work out of several physical locations with an emphasis of encouraging visitors and patrons to learn about the built environment of Amesbury and the way residents, merchants, travelers, business owners and entrepreneurs have interacted with and shaped our city landscape.
