Director of Development

Description:
The Charles River Museum of Industry and Innovation has begun an ambitious reinterpretation and relaunch effort, and we seek to add our first Director of Development to ensure we achieve our goals. An excellent candidate for this position will be passionate about development work, will bring an entrepreneurial spirit, and will be comfortable and effective both in a leadership position and as a member of a small, highly collaborative team. We need someone who will excel in driving a new capital campaign while also continuously improving annual operating fundraising efforts.

The Development Director’s RESPONSIBILITIES include raising funds to support facilities improvement projects, as well as Museum operations, exhibitions, and educational programs; envisioning and implementing fundraising programs and events; building and maintaining strong and active supporter relationships; tracking and acknowledging gifts, sponsorships, and memberships, as well as campaign objectives; and the drafting and submission of grant applications.

The Development Director will report to the Executive Director and work closely with every staff member and with the active support of engaged Museum Trustees. - Please note, also, that this position is envisioned as onsite or hybrid, as dictated by the needs of the Museum, the Development Director, and public health guidance.

A full-time Director is preferred; a superior part-time candidate will be considered.

Qualifications:

Necessary personal QUALIFICATIONS include being a proactive, self-starter who works well independently, is well-organized, is a strategic thinker and researcher, and has excellent oral and written communication skills. REQUIRED: BA/BS, 4+ years of non-profit fundraising experience (leadership experience preferred), skilled with the Microsoft and Google software suites; Little Green Light knowledge a plus.
