Title: Studio Programs Staff Assistant

Education Division

Type: Part-Time, Non-exempt

Reports To: Studio Class Programs Administrator

Direct Reports: None

Rate: 14.00-15.50


Purpose: To provide direct, hands-on support to Studio Programs Staff and Instructors in classes, this position requires specialization in media, the ability to plan and lead activities independently, and the ability to lend clerical support.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain studios and inventory of studio supplies
  • Act as an instructor’s assistant when necessary, including the ability to work and interact with youth, to adapt to a wide range of student abilities, and to assist with interpreting directions to any student who needs extra attention
  • Assist the Studio Class Programs Supervisor with Saturday youth programs throughout the year
  • Help coordinate mailings, course evaluations, and basic class registrations
  • Plan and lead activities independently for Extended Day sessions, workshops, and events
  • Support education staff for tours and programming as necessary
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Interest in art education
  • Regular and reliable attendance, including working on Saturdays
  • Knowledge of, and ability to, work with a wide range of art materials
  • Ability to work independently and as directed by staff or faculty
  • Ability to work with students of all ages, including being comfortable working with youth.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, ability and willingness to learn new software
  • Ability to take on public-facing customer service roles as necessary


EDUCATION:


High school graduate or equivalent art experience; knowledge of studio art


EXPERIENCE:


Prior experience working with youth and familiarity with art supplies. Background in art or education, preferably both.
