Title: Gallery Attendant

Rate: $14.50

Purpose: To provide protection of the collection and safety of guests while providing excellent customer service.

• Protect the collection by observing guests’ behavior and by being aware of environmental and other threats
• Provide courteous, simple, and direct assistance and information to guests
• Be alert for emergencies and hazardous conditions or situations, and assist guests and staff in emergency procedures where necessary; report all observed safety and security incidents to manager on duty or central control room
• Open and close gallery following set procedures
• Inspect works of art for damage or changes, immediately reporting findings to supervisor
• Monitor climate conditions and lighting in galleries, promptly reporting any deficiencies
• Tidy in-gallery collateral and pick up trash when guests are not present; contact manager on duty for detailed cleaning assistance if needed; report iPad problems to supervisor
• Perform other related duties as assigned

• Ability to work a flexible work schedule including evening, weekend, and holiday hours
• Regular and reliable attendance
• Ability to work well with others and provide excellent customer service to guests
• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time while maintaining awareness
• History of honesty and integrity
• Good common sense and the ability to be a calming influence
• Familiarity with email and web browsing necessary

• EDUCATION:

High School or equivalent

EXPERIENCE:

One year of customer service experience in a public environment
