Cahoon Museum of American Art is dynamic environment,
featuring regional art that connects to the museum’s collection of American art
from the 1800s to the present. With a focus on unique, innovative exhibitions
in recent years, the Cahoon Museum has broadened its educational outreach and
appeal to draw larger audiences and establish itself as a well-regarded
regional museum with much to offer. A Development Officer, along with a strong,
professional team, will further the Museum’s growth in the Cape Cod community
The Museum seeks a skilled development professional to
build authentic relationships, envision new partnerships and engage new
audiences, set and exceed goals, motivate and inspire action in others, while
raising support that will build a strong foundation for the Museum’s growth.
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic and experienced with an interest in working
for a dynamic and growing art museum.
Responsibilities include broadening the Museum’s base of
donors, maintaining and growing museum membership -including Patrons program-
overseeing corporate sponsorships, and creating engaging special events. This
position will follow fundraising best practices and create, track, and evaluate
development goals. Improving Museum revenue and community engagement are the
primary indicators of success. This position involves direct interface with
members and donors, including solicitation of their support.
Qualifications include 3-5 years of directly related experience; BA in relevant field; demonstrated strong relationship building and interpersonal skills; strong organizational skills; professional understanding of fundraising processes, cultivation and stewardship protocols, and database recordkeeping policies; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM or Blackbaud databases.
