The Brockton Symphony is proud to be Brockton’s cultural treasure, presenting exciting musical performances to the South Shore community.

We are seeking an energetic person to help us achieve these goals:

  • Encourage more people to attend our concerts
  • Increase community involvement and awareness
  • Increase our income, so we can continue to provide quality performances

The Brockton Symphony Orchestra seeks a part-time Marketing/Fundraising Manager to oversee development, publicity, and fundraising. On behalf of the Symphony, they reach out to businesses, civic organizations, and the general public. The Manager organizes activities to raise funds or otherwise solicit monetary donations. They write promotional materials and lead the Publicity Committee. They raise awareness of the Symphony, its goals, and financial needs.

The Marketing/Fundraising Manager is a 1099 independent contractor who works remotely, with in-person interactions in the community as needed. Hours are flexible.

Duties include:

  Development/Fundraising

  • Become an integral part of the greater Brockton community to reach goals of ad sales, concert marketing, audience development, and fundraising
  • Develop and implement fundraising activities, including corporate sponsorships, special events, grant applications, and cultivation of major donors

  Marketing/Public Relations

  • Manage and expand marketing and publicity: press releases, articles for local newspapers, online event calendars, electronic newsletter, website, social media accounts, and other PR
  • Ensure effective communication with the BrSO’s constituencies: musicians, subscribers and audience members, volunteer groups, arts organizations, and the general public
Qualifications:

The Marketing/Fundraising Manager is a self-motivated person with:

  • Experience in marketing and fundraising
  • An entrepreneurial spirit
  • Leadership ability
  • Enthusiasm for community arts
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to develop strong relationships
  • Strong and clear communication skills, written and verbal
  • Experience with desktop- and Cloud-based office products
  • Ability to multitask, organize and prioritize to meet deadlines and goals
  • Collaborative spirit, and strong team ethic
  • Helpful, but not required: familiarity with the non-profit sector and with classical music
