Show Marketing Professional

Description:
The Show Marketing Professional position will be responsible for overseeing all marketing and promotional duties for events taking place at the Boch Center venues. The position will work together with all of the Boch Center’s programming partners including promoters, agents and managers to ensure strong ticket sales while maximizing exposure for each artist in the Boston market. This individual will report to the VP of Booking and Event Marketing on the event side and will co-report to the Chief Advancement Officer, Development and Institutional Marketing for non-event related marketing initiatives when applicable. The person filling this position is an entrepreneurial, detail oriented, self-starter, team player, and strong communicator with intimate knowledge of the workings in the live entertainment industry.

The ideal candidate has an understanding of live event marketing, marketing plans and the relationship between the venue and its promoters, agents and artists The ideal candidate will also have working knowledge of the Greater Boston media market. The Boch Center is a dynamic organization, and the successful candidate needs to possess a can-do and flexible attitude that can adjust to evolving priorities.

Responsibilities:

  • Show-Marketing + Promotions
  • Plans, implements and manages effective and efficient show-marketing campaigns inclusive of a strong digital focus.
  • Manages all show budgets including allocating funds, tracking spends and delivering timely reports, settlements and required back up.
  • Proactively monitors and adjusts initiatives as needed to ensure sales are performing to maximum potential.
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with show promoters, co-promoters and artist management/marketing representatives to ensure successful results.
  • Identifies and develops key promotional partners, and seeks opportunities for show-related promotional events, awareness-building initiatives, and other promotional activities.
  • Responsible for delivering marketing materials to media partners and internal team.
  • Ensures that show, venue, and nonprofit institutional branding and messaging standards are met and maintained.
  • Makes recommendations on pricing strategies based on research and existing data.
  • Works with venues' Ticketmaster and Shubert Ticketing Services to create and effectively market events.
  • Leads the day-of-show marketing and PR efforts to build the Boch Center brand with artists and industry representatives.
  • Evaluates all trade industry PR and marketing opportunities and build brand awareness at industry functions both locally and nationally i.e., Pollstar, IWBA, Billboard, etc.

General:
  • Works closely with the entire marketing and PR team in-house and externally in cross-promoting relevant events.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communicator and negotiator who is committed to coordinating and sharing information between multiple partners.
  • Assists in the development and fulfillment of sponsorship programs.
  • Ensures institutional marketing objectives are met by external promoters and partners.
  • Represents the organization and takes appropriate leadership when the opportunity presents itself.
  • Provides support for other institutional departments and/or activities and projects as needed.
  • Actively seeks to increase both earned and unearned revenue streams for the entire organization, providing marketing leadership and support.
  • Works on special projects, initiatives, and other institutional programs at the direction of the Chief Advancement Officer, Development and Institutional Marketing.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of relevant entertainment marketing/advertising experience and a proven track record of success.
  • A passion for and interest in the arts, music, and/or popular entertainment.
  • Strong Media buying skills in the fields of radio, print, television and outdoor, as well as experience in working with media buying agencies.
  • An entrepreneurial and creative thinker and doer with strong verbal and written communications skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong network of media and promotional partners.
  • Working knowledge of digital media strategies and tools.
  • A proven ability to meet multiple deadlines and balance numerous projects while maintaining a perspective on long-term goals.
  • Ability to work well within the Boch Center’s team environment.
  • Knowledge of ticket systems i.e., Ticketmaster and Shubert Ticketing
