Associate Director of Institutional Giving



Celebrity Series of Boston (CSB) is seeking a thoughtful, relationship-driven advancement professional with a passion for fundraising to join our 7-person advancement team as Associate Director of Institutional Giving. This advancement leader is responsible for securing contributed income from corporate, foundation, and government entities in support of the artistic and community programs of the Celebrity Series of Boston. This includes identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of institutional donors in various stages of qualification.

The Associate Director of Institutional Giving reports to the Chief Advancement Officer and is responsible for, but not limited to, the following functions:

  • Lead and grow Celebrity Series’ institutional giving program, which currently yields approximately $600K-$700K annually from corporate, foundation, and government entities.
  • Alongside Chief Advancement Officer, serve as primary point of contact for a portfolio of 50-70 institutional funders in various stages of cultivation.
  • Oversee the management of all grant activities, including crafting all grant proposals and stewardship reports and maintaining grants calendars.
  • Regularly meet with artistic/program staff to identify opportunities for funding; lead and convene across departments as necessary to advance institutional giving efforts.
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit corporate funders; continuously evaluate and evolve Celebrity Series’ corporate giving program in response to industry trends.
  • Maintain institutional donor records in Tessitura database; proof and edit institutional acknowledgements.
  • Conduct periodic research on new institutional giving opportunities and meet mutually agreed-upon metrics for prospective funder discovery and outreach.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of best practices in institutional fundraising and trends in corporate responsibility.
  • Regularly attend Celebrity Series digital and live events as necessary to foster institutional relationships.


  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in development/advancement
  • Ability to effectively represent the Celebrity Series and its mission to all constituencies.
  • Excellent written communication skills with a demonstrated aptitude for crafting complex grant proposals.
  • Proven track record of successful management of institutional fundraising relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead laterally across internal departments in support of fundraising efforts.
  • Highly organized individual with ability to meet frequent and occasionally concurrent deadlines efficiently and effectively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
  • Proficiency with Tessitura software is a plus.
  • Some night and weekend work is required.

  • Affinity for Boston and its cultural entities; knowledge of and passionate connection to the Greater Boston performing arts scene a plus.
  • Commitment to personal growth, and the emotional awareness to navigate change effectively.
  • Willingness to continuously challenge norms and embrace new ideas and ways of working
