Massachusetts College of Art and Design is the only freestanding public college of art and design in the United States. The college is nationally known for offering broad access to quality professional arts education, accompanied by a strong general education in the liberal arts. A major cultural force in Boston, in addition to its undergraduate and graduate degree programs, MassArt also offers acclaimed public programs, including exhibitions, lectures, outreach activities and events, and education programs for adults and youth. The Residence Hall Director is an 11 month (48 week position with 4 weeks off in either June or July) professional live-in position and includes the management and overall operation of a Residence Hall during the academic year and residential life responsibilities during the summer. Our Residence Hall Director positions include the joint management of neighboring institutions leasing space. While all responsibilities listed are important to the role of the Residence Hall Director, the following are considered essential functions:
