Seasonal Steward - Williamstown, MA


The Opportunity.

The Field Farm Seasonal Steward assists with the care of the fields, building maintenance, and other natural and cultural features of The Trustees’ Field Farm property and Guest House (Bed & Breakfast).?Although this position is based at Field Farm in Williamstown, it may also involve working at one of our other properties nearby.

The position contains a broad diversity of resources across the property on over 300 acres, that are all open to the public, including a functioning inn, museum, woodlands, and historic structures.? This property also includes diverse ecological habitats.

In this Role You Will Be:

  • Landscaping-including lawns, stone walls and shrubs

  • Structural maintenance – including painting and light carpentry.

  • Maintain parking areas

  • Moving and furniture as needed

  • Small building repair projects

  • Coordinate third party contractor work that needs to be done

  • Greeting visitors on the properties and answering questions

  • Working with volunteers/groups

  • Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation

  • Removing trash/litter

  • Minimum of high school degree or equivalent

  • Experience using and basic maintenance of lawn mowers and string trimmers, or willingness to learn

  • Ability to follow safety standards and techniques and to use appropriate safety equipment.

  • A good attitude, willingness to be flexible, and a commitment to achieving the goals of the Trustees

  • Experience working with pools and being OSHA 10 certified is a plus

  • A satisfactory criminal background (CORI) check

  • A valid driver’s license, as well as a satisfactory driving record as outlined in The Trustees’ driving policy, preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to handle the physical demands of the job e.g. regularly lifting 50 lbs., hiking several miles, and working in all weather conditions and environments that may include thorns, poison ivy and biting insects.

Benefits and Salary:

This is a seasonal, non-exempt, hourly paid position, with an optimal start date as soon as possible. This position is based in Williamstown, MA.
