Web Developer/ PHP Software Engineer
The Massachusetts Historical Society is looking to contract a highly skilled PHP developer for an open-source project. We are building a web delivery system for historical documents that ingests XML and creates browse features from stored JSON metadata. Our lead developer requires a second set of eyes focused on refactoring and expanding the MVC architecture, preparing documentation (in the form of regularized in-code commenting) for open-source release, and possible adding unit testing to the mix. Experience working toward PSR standards is highly desirable.
Work will be remote, but an occasional in-person meeting may be required.
Years of experience coding high level OOP PHP web apps; know when to use interfaces, abstract classes; able to code without a framework.Experience with XML, JSON metadata structures, unit testing all a plus.
