Description:
With minimal supervision, the Marketing and
Development Associate performs complex and diverse communication and
development based functions in support of the List Visual Arts Center.
The primary duties of this position are two-fold: social media manager
and development assistant. Reporting to the Associate Director and
working collaboratively with curatorial and education staff the
associate will strategically develop, plan, and implement social media,
communications, and development strategies.
Works closely with
the Associate Director and senior staff as a liaison to Advisory
Committee members, visiting VIPs, and upper-level donors. Anticipates
and initiates actions regarding the operation of the List Visual Arts
Center. Functions as an individual contributor on multiple projects.
Able to multi-task and support others in carrying out complex and
fast-paced responsibilities. Handles sensitive and confidential tasks
and materials with discretion, efficiency and tact.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Social Media Manager (35%)
Organize
and execute a digital marketing plan across multiple platforms
including enews, website, Eventbrite, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and
broadcast announcements.
Monitor digital analytics and provide quarterly reports to senior staff and advisory committee. Create
unique web sites using Squarespace for special promotional uses
including year end reporting and Student Lending Collection. Assist with
web site management when needed.
Hire, train, and oversee departmental interns.
Development (30%)
Draft renewal letter and acknowledgement letters, draft correspondence for Director and Associate Provost for high-level donors. Assist with development and management of Patron
Program. Send monthly renewal letters and report on results. Research
donor records and other sources for presentations, reports, and
development documents.
Oversee List Center database (20%)
Maintain
departmental database for donors and e-mail subcrcibers. Create
bi-monthly List Center e-newsletters, exhibition announcements, and
invitation to events. Send exhibition catalogues and brochures to donors
and prospects multiple times a year.
Special Event Coordinator (10%)
Organize
and manage receptions (250 ppl), dinners (60 ppl), and other special
events/talks. Specific tasks includ venue selection, meet with caterer,
other vendors, custodial as required to coordinate events, submit MIT
event forms, arrange food, lighting, music, physical set up, police
detail. Operate within pre-set budgets.
Create and manage travel
arrangements and activities related to List Center’s programming, such
as special tours and evening activities.
Advisory Committee & Administrative Support (5%)
With Director and Associate Director, liaise with Advisory Committee Members. Present work to the marketing sub committee.
