Apprentice Showcase Production Manager: Summer 2019


Commonwealth Shakespeare Company is seeking an experienced Production Manager for its Apprentice program Showcase performances, All’s Well That Ends Well, directed by Adam Sanders and A Midsummer Night’s Dream,directed by Bryn Boice. They will be presented at a theater TBA in Boston. The productions will be performed by the CSC acting Apprentice Company, a group of 32 undergraduate level actors. Although both these plays will be fully produced, the design focus is on costumes and props with very some emphasis on sound and no dramatic lighting.

  • Rehearsals begin June 12
  • Tech: July 22 – 24
  • Performances: July 24 – 28

The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing all logistical aspects of the production, including:

  • Hiring production staff, following CSC hiring practices
  • Creating and adhering to a comprehensive production calendar, including design and technical deadlines, production meetings, major rehearsals, technical rehearsals, logistical deadlines and performances
  • Maintain and track production budget as set forth by CSC staff and follow all CSC accounting practices
  • Oversee and attend all technical rehearsals
  • Oversee and coordinate transportation, setup and strike of production
  • Supervise strike of all production materials at conclusion of performance run
  • Supply a Production Management Book at the end of the Project including – timesheets, contact sheet, schedules, copies of invoices and receipts pertaining to the Project budget and any other paperwork required.

Part-time: some but little preparation can start immediately, the majority of the work takes place between June 1 and July 28, 2019

1+ years of professional production and management experience; valid driver’s license; familiarity with basic sound and lighting setup/execution preferable but not necessary. Familiarity with QLab a plus. Fluency in Google Drive required.
