Volunteer Coordinator


6 hours/week, 1-2 days at 3hrs/day (volunteer position)

The Fort Point Arts Community (FPAC), a non-profit membership organization in Boston’s historic Fort Point neighborhood, seeks an energetic Volunteer Coordinator to identify and promote volunteer opportunities within the organization’s diverse arts and cultural programming. The ideal candidate is passionate about the arts and about their community

The Volunteer Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Marketing and Operations and the Board to promote FPAC volunteer opportunities throughout South Boston. They will identify the volunteer needs at FPAC, create job descriptions, post positions, arrange interviews, and process and manage volunteers. 


- Communicates with staff & committee chairs
- Identifies personnel needs of each committee
- Identifies roles and skills needed
- Identifies commitment hours
- Writes/edits job descriptions and role statements for postings
- Posts volunteer positions in online forums
- Processes volunteers (contacts volunteer candidates, completes volunteer commitment forms and contact info, etc.)
- Organizes candidate interviews with committee chairs
- Manages volunteers (volunteer hour logs, tardiness & absenteeism, substitutions, etc.)

- Must be a people person with good interpersonal skills
- Must be detail oriented

- Strong writing skills 
- Comfortable communicating by phone and email

- Familiarity with online job sites and forums
- A basic understanding of database management of volunteers

- Familiarity with the Boston Arts Community a plus
