Lighting Internship for Youth Summer Program


Each summer, The Hanover Theatre runs Youth Summer Programs for students ages 6-18.The pre-teen program introduces students, ages 9-12, to the joys of participating in a show. Students work with a director/choreographer and music director over the course of two weeks to present a junior production of a Broadway show. A 60-minute Broadway Junior performance will be presented at the end of the program.Our teen program, now in its 9th year, offers students, ages 13-18, daily morning classes focusing on music, drama and dance as well as afternoon rehearsals for a final production. Two sessions will be offered. Students will present three performances of a full-scale Broadway musical at the end of each session.


· Assist with lighting design prep for overall stage look of show

· Assist during lighting hang and focus

· Help organize and design spotlight cues for the production

· Potentially run a follow spot for the production

· Assist during programming time

· Take notes and assist with implementation of notes during tech week



(times may vary depending on production schedule)

· Lighting Hang & Focus: Monday, July 22nd 4pm-12am 

  (tentative- times TBD at a later date)

· Teen Session I: July 22th - July 26th 

  Monday-Friday 8am-5pm and performances July 26th & 27th

· Pre-Teen Session: August 5th - August 10th 

  8am-4pm and performances on August 10th

· Teen Session II: August 12th – August 16th

  Monday-Friday 8:00am - 5pm and performances on August 16th & 17th

· Strike: Sunday August 18th


•Preference to someone considering or intending to pursue a degree/career in lighting or production

•Previous experience in lighting a plus, some basic lighting knowledge preferred

•Excellent communication skills and the ability to think and react quickly under high pressure situations

•Excellent ability to listen and follow instructions under pressure and work with a team

•Confident personality with the motivation to achieve results

•Strong attention to detail and an eye for design/color

•Punctual and dependable

•Reliable Transportation (parking will be provided)

•Must be 16+
