Marketing and Development Coordinator


The Arlington Center for the Arts is a community arts center devoted to the mission of "transforming lives and building community through the arts.”

Now entering our 30th anniversary year, ACA is settling into a newly-renovated 8000 square foot space in Arlington’s historic Central School, completing the final phases of a $1million capital campaign, and working to establish the new ACA as “Arlington’s hub of creativity and community.”

We seek an experienced marketing and development coordinator to help expand ACA’s visibility, reach and impact through innovative and effective marketing, PR, community outreach and development support.

This position coordinates and helps create ACA’s marketing, PR and outreach strategies, including press relations, catalog and collateral material production, website maintenance, email marketing and social media (approx 70% of time).

This position also supports key development and fundraising activities, including managing the donor database and donor correspondence, coordinating fundraising campaigns and appeals, and helping coordinate fundraising events (approx 30% of time).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Communicate ACA’s brand and programs effectively via many channels, including: media outreach, printed material, email marketing, website, social media, etc.;
  • Write and distribute external marketing content including press releases and calendar listings; maintain press/media database and relationships;
  • Manage and maintain the ACA website; proactively develop web content and updates to keep the website fresh and engaging;
  • Working with the Education Director, assist in the production and distribution of four course catalogs per year;
  • Produce marketing and collateral materials including calls for artists, postcards, flyers, posters, signage, labels and other collateral materials.
  • Research and learn new methods for sharing ACA’s brand in an ever-evolving communications environment;
  • Serve as ACA staff liaison to one Arlington Arts & Culture marketing committee.

DEVELOPMENT (approx 30%)

  • Manage and maintain donor database (Salesforce) to include complete and accurate donor information; ensure timely donor acknowledgements; pull reports, mailing lists, and donor records to assist in fundraising efforts, including individual asks, annual appeal(s) and donor stewardship activities;
  • Coordinate production and mailing and distribution of fundraising letters and campaigns
  • Assist in preparing sponsorship appeals, grant applications and member/donor outreach.
  • Serve as lead staff contact for fundraising and stewardship events, draft and produce invitations, track RSVP’s;
  • Work closely with Executive Director to coordinate and grow ACA’s annual Blue Jean Ball Fundraiser and Auction

Other duties as assigned, including walk-in & phone reception, which is shared among all ACA staff.

Occasional evening and weekend work required for events and meetings.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in marketing, communications, arts administration or non-profit management or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years full-time work experience, including significant time spent in an office environment, preferably in a nonprofit arts/culture setting;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to effectively communicate ACA’s mission, goals and programs;
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Windows-based word processing, Excel spreadsheets and mail merge, databases, social media platforms, Photoshop, SalesForce and ProClass (or similar databases), MailChimp (or similar email marketing platform), WIX (or similar website platform). Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies with ease.
  • Excellent “people person” with ability to build relationships among staff, board, artists and volunteers
  • Exceptional time management, planning and organizational skills with ability to organize and prioritize workload in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Knowledge of and interest in community arts and culture
  • Willingness to work offsite (within Arlington) during February, April and Summer Camp weeks as needed
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain prior to Camp programs
  • Design skills a plus
