The Y Theatre Co. is seeking a Production Assistant to support an upcoming productions for the YMCA of the North Shore taking place February 13th - April 27th in Swampscott and March 5th - May 7th, 2019 in our Manchester/Essex location, with the potential to join other productions moving forward. Reliable transportation is required for these roles.
The Y Theatre Co. produces full scale musicals and plays for young actors ages 6 & up in Salem, Haverhill, and in conjunction with public schools in Swampscott and Manchester/Essex. Each production offers students an opportunity to join a supportive and talented theatre community where every role is given a chance to shine. Technical components including lights, sets, props, costumes and live musicians give a professional experience to new and experienced actors.
Assist at and during rehearsal events ensuring set-up and break-down are carried out.
Lead rehearsal warm-ups/vocal warm-ups as needed to prepare cast before performances.
Practice and run scenes or songs with cast as directed.
Attend all rehearsal and production events as required to ensure a seamless production.
Provide coaching to actors on character work as Directed.
Assist with all technical elements of the production.
Aide technicians/designers as necessary.
Participate backstage during performances or as the technical director assigns
All other duties as assigned.
Prior experience working backstage or leading theater and musical productions.
A passion for theater and interest in developing and supporting productions.
Must enjoy working with children, previous childcare experience preferred but not required.
