Retail Systems Engineer

The Retail Systems Engineer will serve as the primary contact for the Museum Enterprise retail systems. The engineer is responsible for the management of the MFA retail management application, the point of sale applications, the MFA Retail Web Store, the MFA Wholesale Web Store, the development of custom reports and software and the integration of retail data with data from other systems. Will interact with Museum Enterprise personnel related job scheduling, report production, problem resolution, system upgrades and ongoing technical support for the Malibu system. Will trouble-shoot any problems with automated processes and printing, resolve where possible and interact with the MFA IT Help Desk and vendor staff to resolve remaining issues. This individual will also Integrate the retail systems’ information with other Museum information by developing data exchanges and real-time validations with relevant system such as Tessitura Membership and Development, Edelweiss on-line book ordering, Neopost shipping Prints-On-Demand kiosks and the MFA Data Warehouse.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2- 3 years of experience supporting the application use of Oracle or other relational data base management systems such as SQL/Server or MySQL.
  • 1-2 years of experience supporting a retail environment.
  • Knowledge and Proficiency in Windows desktop and server environments.
  • Database reporting experience is desirable utilizing Crystal Reports or third party reporting tools.
  • A working knowledge of the tools used to support the system such as command file scripts and database administration tools.
  • Ability to effectively interface with and influence personnel at all levels of the organization.
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and oral) are required.
  • Customer service skills in a team environment.
  • Must have a flexible schedule being able to work extended hours, nights, and weekends as needed.
