Art Resource Collaborative for Kids (ARCK) is looking for talented, enthusiastic, and passionate Teaching Artists. Join our team of artists and educators who use the visual arts as a vehicle for social justice, literacy, and STEAM content! This upcoming year’s theme is Sustainable Design through Social Entrepreneurship. Teaching Artists will lead art classes in a classroom setting and assist in mentoring ARCK’s education interns. Teaching Artists will work with classroom teachers to integrate the arts with class curriculum, and will also be part of the ongoing development and improvement of our curriculum. Teaching Artists participate in weekly team meetings where they demo their lesson plans in a supportive lab environment.
Our classes align with academic content and learning themes specific to our partner schools and classrooms, as well as the Common Core Curriculum and National Visual Art Standards. ARCK uses arts integration by incorporating STEM components to enhance and engage the academic experience of our students while focusing on developing intercultural diversity leadership roles, civic engagement, social justice and 21st Century skills.
BFA required, MFA or M.Ed preferred
Experience teaching children grades k-12
Experience working with urban schools
Knowledge and ability to teach interdisciplinary academic connections, align Visual Art, Common Core Standards, and STEM components.
Knowledge of UDL and differentiated instruction
Professional & reliable
Ability and willingness to commute to different schools in city of Boston
Daytime availability for in-school programming (We currently do not have after-school programming)
Friendly, patient, and sensitive to the needs of a diversity of students
Passionate about providing equal access to art education to all different learners and support an inclusive learning environment.
