Position: Executive Director

BLAA is a community arts organization that seeks to elevate the visibility of and provide resources to Boston area LGBTQIA artists. BLAA is dedicated to building community through exhibition opportunities, events, workshops, artist talks, performances, and other creative social outlets. We welcome all who identify under the LGBTQIA spectrum, or produce creative work that falls under these categories. BLAA seeks to act as a hub to bring LGBTQIA Boston area artists together.
BLAA’s core programming includes three group exhibitions a year that are hosted by various Boston area galleries. These are all organized via open calls. Each exhibition includes a potluck for participating artists to meet one another ahead of the reception; an opening reception; and some form of public programming (typically an artist talk or an art making workshop). In addition to these three group shows, BLAA partners with other organizations on a case-by-case basis to put on other arts-related events.
The role of the BLAA’s Director is foremost to act as a convener and facilitator of communication between BLAA Committee members and all of our constituents. The director will plan and run monthly BLAA Committee meetings. The director will promote BLAA’s work to the larger Boston and New England community, and develop partnerships with other area organizations and galleries.
