Chinese Cuisine Instructor

Description:

The Cambridge Center for Adult Education, located in Harvard Square, is currently seeking a part-time instructor to teach a variety of Chinese cooking classes, beginning in June, 2023. CCAE is one of the most wide-ranging and innovative communities of adult learners in the country. CCAE provides affordable education to all members of the community and is a welcoming place committed to experiential, lifelong, face-to-face learning that is distinguished by students and faculty of different racial, ethnic, sexual orientation, religious, and economic backgrounds. CCAE has been a home to curious people pursuing knowledge for 150 years and prides itself on being a place to grow, create and thrive.CCAE is currently offering both in-person and online classes.

Below are some of the Chinese cooking classes CCAE currently offers, but we welcome new ideas to add to our curricula.

  • Introduction to Dim Sum

  • Bao

  • Dumplings

  • Hand Pulled Noodles

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrable experience and success in education within the food and beverage sector, particularly Chinese cuisine.

  • An ability to engage a diverse demographic of adult learners.

  • A culinary arts degree or 3+ years in a food related educational field is preferred.

    More Details:

  • Must have weeknight and some weekend availability
  • Classes are generally three hours in length
  • Compensation: $25 per hour
  • Cooking instructors are paid for two hours of prep time in addition to class time
  • Instructors are provided with a $280 voucher for any CCAE class
  • Instructors would ideally teach around 3 classes per quarterly term, averaging one class per month
  • Planning classes for summer 2023 term is currently underway so candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
