Assistant Production Manager


Company One, a resident theatre company with the Boston Center for the Arts, is in search of two Assistant Production Managers. Positions would begin asap, or early Summer 2013 - start date is flexible.

Responsibilities. An Assistant Production Manager will:

-Work closely with the Production Managers, Production Associate, and Managing Director to help Theatre leadership, staff, and production designers accomplish artistic goals and meet deadlines in the most timely and cost-effective way.

-Connect and communicate daily with Theatre leadership, production staff, and stage management to facilitate production processes.

-Develop relationships with designers and directors to help them accomplish their Artistic goals, balancing their needs with those of the Theatre.

-Create and assist in the creation of agendas, schedules, calendars, contracts, and other production paperwork

-Assist in the hiring of production staff throughout the year.

-Attend and manage auditions as necessary.

-Attend all production meetings.

-Attend monthly or bi-monthly production management team meetings.

-Schedule and attend private meetings with the PM as necessary.

-Attend other meetings with company staff, directors, and stage management as necessary.

-Attend load-ins/outs, tech week rehearsals, opening Friday and Saturday night performances, and some further performances.

Part-time position, some day-time flexibility is a plus. Assignments commensurate with skills, interest and necessity. Intention for position is to develop skills and communication to prepare APM to become a PM on future Company One productions.


Qualifications required:

-Administrative and leadership experience that demonstrates excellent judgment, the ability to listen well, manage and prioritize multiple tasks while paying attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as part of a coordinated team.

-Excellent written communications skills and oral communication skills (both in person and on the phone).

-The ability to work under pressure when necessary, and to pitch in to get the job done when a deadline looms, Tech periods require late night and weekend work hours.

-Proficiency at Microsoft Office Suite.

-A passionate commitment to theater, production, and to Company One’s mission.

-The desire to become a Production Manager with Company One in future seasons.
