Description:
The
Curator of Youth Education shall be responsible for the development and
implementation of PAAM’s education programs for children and youth. This position works collaboratively with the
Museum School Program Administrator to schedule classes and events, plan and
develop all youth education programs, fundraising initiatives, and related
activities.
Specific
duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Program
development and implementation
·
Establish
and maintain relationships with partner schools, K-12
·
Plan
and administer Student and Educators Curating Programs
·
Develop
and present curricular materials
·
Develop
and teach youth and educator classes and Professional Development programs
·
Recruit
and contract artist-teachers and instructors
·
Recruit
underserved youth participants
·
Conceptualize,
curate, and generate educational materials for selected exhibitions
·
Develop
long-term directions for current youth educational programs
·
Research
and develop new youth educational programs
Administration
·
Grant-writing
and assisting PAAM’s Development Officer
on funding proposals and reports
·
Work
with the CEO to prepare and administer budgets
·
Work
with Communications Officer to ensure outreach and marketing of programs and
related materials
·
Create
web content for education programs
·
Hire,
train and supervise support and contracted staff, youth employees, and interns
as needed
·
Order
and inventory equipment and supplies
·
Create
and maintain surveys and assessment tools
·
Compile
reports and track data on education programs
·
Oversee
Youth Advisory Committee and Youth Education Committee
·
Other
responsibilities as needed
Qualifications:
Education and Skills:
·
Bachelors/Masters
in education, museum administration, art history, or related field
·
Three
years’ experience working in a museum or creative education environment
·
Understanding
of tenants of positive youth development
·
Excellent
written and verbal communication skills
·
Grant-writing
experience
·
Ability
to develop curricula and work with young learners of all ages
- Experience recruiting and working
alongside professional artists
- Ability to create safe and engaging
creative environments for children and teens
- Leadership Strength - ability to set boundaries and address
conflicts/behavioral issues as they arise
- Serve as an ambassador for PAAM’s
education programs
- Training in Visual Thinking
Strategies a plus
- Experience with Microsoft Office;
and/or fast and flexible learner in Adobe Creative Suite, and WordPress
