Description:

The Brookline Arts Center (BAC) is seeking an art teacher for one or more of the following classes to work with children aged 5-7 and/or 11-14 both at Brookline Arts Center and at offsite partner locations. The teacher will be responsible for providing overall class goals and objectives, developing class content and curriculum and providing a nurturing environment for students.

Classes are offered as follows:

ART AND CULTURE (Ages 5-7)

Tuesdays (8 wks), Jan 22-Mar 19 (No class Feb 19) 3:30-5:30pm

Location: Brookline Arts Center

Travel the globe through the arts of other cultures! Children will learn about history and explore the vast range of rich artistic traditions around the world.

WHAM! POW! ART!(Ages 5-7)

Wednesdays (8 wks), Jan 23-Mar 20 (No class Feb 20) 3:30-5:30pm

Location: Brookline Arts Center

In this class students will explore the world of comic book art through a variety of projects involving drawing, painting and mixed media. We will bring our own characters to life, create heroes and villains and learn about storytelling, paneling and animation!

OUT OF THE FRAME
(Ages 5-7)

Thursdays (8 wks), Jan 24-Mar 21 (No class Feb 21) 3:30-5:30pm

Location: Brookline Arts Center

Thinking outside of the box is what artists do best. In this class we will learn about some of the greatest artistic “rule-breakers” and learn to break some rules ourselves!* We will use only the strangest tools for painting, make “moving” portraits and sculpt creations out of the most unconventional materials. *Art rules only.

ANIMATION (Ages 11-14)

Fridays (8 wks), Jan 25-Mar 22 3:00-4:30pm

Location: Brookline Teen Center

In this class, we will develop characters and comics with a three-dimensional twist! Students will bring their drawn characters to life using sculpey clay, found materials and sewing techniques. They will then have the opportunity to experiment with short stop-motion animation of their creations.
