Development Associate

Description:

The Berkshire Museum is looking for detailed-oriented, administrative staff member to help run their Engagement Office. The Development Associate will report directly to the Development Manager with further oversight from the Chief Engagement Officer. This position primarily manages the membership program at Berkshire Museum, but is also the main Altru database manager for the department. They are the key staff member entering and maintaining all donor and gift records. The role will be the in-house expert on the database and suggest best practices—this will include providing weekly giving and analytic reports to the Chief Engagement Officer and other departmental staff.


This position will also assist with all other aspects of the engagement office including, but not limited to, program planning and execution, administrative, and all departmental support.
Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities:

· Serves as a daily key point of contact for members and external audience

· Works closely with the guest services department to monitor and increase membership

· Manages and updates the membership section on the Berkshire Museum website, and works with marketing department on membership social media and communications

· Manages reporting on revenue, strategies, activities, events, calendar, etc.

· Serves as the lead staff member for all things related to Altru, and manages reporting and data entry in Altru as directed by the Chief Engagement Officer

· Trains Development (and other) staff on all donor information management functions

· Working with Development Manager and Chief Engagement Officer to develop strategies to increase revenue through membership incentives

· Responsible for satellite membership programs, specifically the Library Pass Program, Corporate / Organization, and other institutional memberships

· Responsible for maintaining member lists and benefits and ensuring members receive regular correspondence.

· Responsible for entering and managing all data into the database including gifts, activities, event attendance, notes, and other information.

· Assists with other museum events including board and committee meetings


Qualifications:

· Excellent, crisp writing skills with an entrepreneurial spirit and extremely creative style

· Strong collaborator and communicator working well with museum members and coworkers

· Strong organizational and time management skills; highly self-motivated and energetic, ability to show initiative and work independently; ability to juggle multiple projects with a high level of attention to detail; ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented office

· Highly organized and meticulous, staying on top of key membership deadlines

· Ability to handle simultaneous, multiple projects, work flexibly in a team environment and communicate with members of the public in a professional manner

· Self-motivated, energetic learner

· Excellent written and verbal skills

· Extremely well-organized, goal-oriented and very high attention to detail

· Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills

· Comfortable working with the general public, trustees, members, and donors on the phone and/or in person

· Strong technological skills and computer literacy

· Energetic, positive, dependable, and able to work as a team member.

· Must handle sensitive communications with confidentiality.

· Ability to work some evenings and weekends, and easily accept other duties and tasks as assigned
