This position will start training ASAP, with a teaching schedule starting in January.
We offer fun, engaging programs where kids learn to code, design, and build using some of the coolest technology tools available. Students make video games, produce animated video, engineer robots, prototype using 3D printers, and have a blast while learning skills that will serve them for a lifetime.
We are looking for enthusiastic teachers who want to learn new skills and empower kids with modern tools of creativity. If you have teaching experience in any setting and have an interest in learning new technology skills, you will LOVE working with us. We will provide all training and support you need to succeed in teaching our classes, and you will have one-on-one guidance with our Teacher Development Lead so you're not teaching alone without you being comfortable and ready to deliver a super fun and enriching class. This position is suitable for tinkerers, tech contractors, makers, educators, and others looking to work with kids and available during after-school hours.
You would be a member of our Outreach team. This department has a team of 8-9 traveling teachers that work with a network of +60 schools & libraries every term. A typical schedule for an outreach teacher has 3-5 days during the week in which they teach at a local partner location (we work with private schools, recreation departments, libraries, and public schools like Boston, Brookline, Needham, Acton-Boxborough, etc). We schedule your classes to the best of our ability to locations in/near your residential area. We teach all across eastern MA (think Westborough to Boston, with spots in North and South Shore).
There's various other opportunities for Outreach teachers, which is a Senior Instructor position here at Empow. You may have the option to teach on the weekends at our home studios in Lexington and Newton. You may also have the opportunity to contribute as member of our Curriculum Development team. Lastly, many of our teachers attend the many marketing events we attend throughout the year to help spread the word about our programs.
