Are you a motivated self-starter looking for a collaborative working group in an academic environment? If so, join our experienced team to support research and learning in the beautiful Berkshires. Williams Libraries seeks to fill a full-time, (37.5 hours, year-round), multi-faceted position in the Collection Management Department with an energetic, organized new colleague. The Acquisitions Assistant will be responsible for purchasing and receiving current and out-of-print materials in all formats, and collaborating with other acquisitions staff to ensure expenditure of the annual resource budget and endowment funds.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Balancing the responsible allocation of college resources with the need to provide prompt and excellent service to faculty and students
  • Identifying appropriate funds and creating order records in the integrated library system
  • Assisting in monitoring library funds and spending of gift endowments and funds
  • Processing weekly lists of vouchers generated and submitting to Controller's Office
  • Reconciling weekly purchasing card transactions and preparing monthly expense reports
  • Recording monthly productivity statistics for acquisition activities
  • Processing received shipments of new library materials
  • Training and overseeing duties for department student assistants
Qualifications:
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and one to two years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to search the web, and other resources, efficiently and accurately
  • Familiarity with spreadsheet applications; ability to track highly detailed fund accounting
  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn and apply, accounting principles and practices
  • Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, publishers, staff, faculty, and students
  • Ability to handle foreign-language material accurately, using translation software when necessary.
  • Attention to detail for accuracy and efficiency
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, and to work independently as well as collaboratively
