Quickbooks Expert and part-time accountant - NEW


This job consists of the following tasks:

1) Writing and mailing checks twice a month to 10-12 individuals, based on email report received from president of the organization. Paying bills forwarded to you via email

2) Downloading bank data onto the Quickbooks software, verifying account assignments and editing if necessary, and producing YTD financial statements each month that will be reviewed by a member of the CSU Board prior to dissemination to board members and advisors.

3) Preparing 1099 forms for instructors in January for stipends paid in the the preceding year.

4) Preparing all information for the tax accountant to do the annual tax filing for City Strings United in February of the following year.

Except for the first month and the tax filing month, it is estimated that the job will entail about four man-hours per month. At the onset of this hire, the Quickbooks expert will spend a few additional hours with a member of the Executive Committee of the board of City Strings United to develop two additional statements that are needed. It is estimated that about 4 to 6 hours will be required to set these up. During the tax preparation month an additional 4 -6 hours will be required as well.


College degree and at least 3 years of Quickbooks experience. CPA certification is a plus.  Two references are required.

About this Organization:
CSU provides free cellos and cello lessons during the school year to Boston urban youth between the ages of six to seventeen. It is supported by a dedicated Board of Directors, staff, teaching assistants from Berklee College of Music, and parents. In August 2018, the Massachusetts Cultural Council awarded CSU a three-year Creative Youth Development Grant. In addition, CSU is the recipient of a multi-year grant from the Johnson String Project to help underwrite the cost of the free cellos CSU provides its students. For more information see
