Shop Foreman/Scenic Carpenter

Description:
Searching for a Shop Foreman/Scenic Carpenter for the Brandeis University Scene Shop for the 2019 Spring Semester. The shop staff consists of the TD and undergraduate work-study students. We will be producing one full scale show during the semester and installing stock pieces for a second production.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading undergrads in daily shop work

  • Insuring work continues when the TD is not present

  • Leading a crew during strike

  • Maintain a neat and orderly shop

  • Minor tool repairs as needed

  • Position will require 35 hours/week (minus holidays), on a regular schedule. Attendance at strike is required. The work schedule is as follows:

  • 01/07/19 – 05/03/19

  • Strike –04/14/19

Qualifications:

Candidates should have:

  • Extensive Set Construction experience (including the ability to read and interpret construction drawings)

  • Knowledge of Rigging

  • MIG Welding proficiency

  • Ability to comfortably use ladders, Genie Lift and work in grids

  • Lift at least 75lbs

  • Must be able to work around Undergrads
