Retail Marketing Spring Intern

Description:

Boston Ballet seeks a creative self-starter who wants to gain experience in merchandise buying, sales, marketing promotions, and e-commerce. This position will work under the supervision of the retail staff on a variety of projects that include the following:

Responsibilities

  • Research products for season shows, special events, and gifts

  • Help manage physical inventory and merchandise at Boston studio shop

  • Create and maintain pricing charts for all studio locations

  • Assist with web product assortment and update electronic and physical inventories

  • Brainstorm ideas for retail promotions

  • Assist in writing sales copy for online merchandise, e-communications, and vendor descriptions

  • Assist in the development of products for merchandise and marketing promotional items

  • Assist in compiling and reviewing customer survey results

  • Staff and maintain visual merchandising at special events

  • Assist Retail Operations Associate with customer service inquiries

  • Manage shop supply inventory monthly (shipping supplies, shopping bags, receipt tape, tickets)

  • Assist with fulfillment of orders and internal transfers

  • Assist with load in/load out at the Boston Opera House during productions

The Retail Marketing Intern will also have the opportunity for paid work as an Assistant Shop Manager at the Boston Opera House during run of productions.


Qualifications:
  • Currently or recently enrolled in or completed an undergraduate degree

  • Able to commit to 10–15 hours per week, mostly during office hours (see below)

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Retail or related work experience required

  • Enthusiasm, flexibility, a high level of self-motivation, professionalism, creativity, humor, and a love for the arts encouraged

  • Some nights and weekends

Boston Ballet internships are unpaid. Boston Ballet internships are available for credit (preferred) or on a volunteer basis. Boston Ballet Interns in the Fall and Spring are eligible for complimentary tickets to season performances.
