Marketing and Program Assistant

Musketaquid Arts & Environment is a program of the Umbrella Community Arts Center in Concord, Massachusetts. Founded in 1990, Musketaquid provides opportunities for exploring and connecting with the natural world via the arts through an integrated program of celebrations, classes/workshops, and public art activities. The program’s signature events include the free community Earth Day and Solstice Celebrations.

Reports to Arts & Environment Director

This person will work with A&E Program Director and the Umbrella Marketing Director to develop and implement marketing plans for Musketaquid community celebrations, classes and workshops, and public art activities.


These activities include but are not limited to:

1. Develop and implement social marketing plan.

2. Write and submit press releases.

3. Create and manage posts on Umbrella and local community event calendars.

4. Create and distribute regular email campaigns via MailChimp.

5. Develop marketing materials, including program brochure and seasonal event flyers.

6. Schedule tabling at local festivals/events.

7. Maintain email list on MailChimp


This person also will provide program support:

1. Support teachers in developing curricula and preparing materials for lesson plans.

2. Assist Program Director in planning, overseeing, and implementing Concord community celebrations: Earth Day Winter and Summer Solstices, including the Cardboard Boat Race Challenge.

3. Facilitate Thursday afternoon Art & Nature Drop-In class.

4. Maintain current teacher/artist contracts.

5. Plan/develop Umbrella/Concord semester class offerings.

6. Assist Program Director in exploring new earned income and community partnership opportunities.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

1. Marketing experience -- developing print and electronic media.
2. Ease working with social media platforms.
3. Experience working with website development and email marketing programs (e.g. Mail Chimp).
4. Interest in developing project management skills.
5. Ability to take initiative, work independently.
6. Curiosity and sense of humor.
