Senior Project Manager, Early Childhood

WGBH Education seeks an early childhood education professional to join our team. Under supervision from the Director of First 8 Labs, the Senior Manager, Early Childhood will be responsible for managing a variety of ongoing early childhood projects and collaborating in the development of new projects. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the Senior Manager, Early Childhood will:• Conduct background research, literature reviews, partner outreach, and other due diligence to aid project development• Create educational frameworks for early learning/child development• Coordinate creation of digital education resources and oversee production• Communicate with stakeholders and the field through writing, oral, and electronic presentation• Develop and manage partnerships with early childhood and other community organizations• Support grant submission efforts and research efforts, where needed• Represent the department on internal teams and the organization at external events• Support the Director of First 8 Labs on other projects, as assigned
In addition to deep experience in early childhood and digital media, the ideal candidate will also possess STEM content knowledge or experience and be an easy-going collaborator across multiple functions and departments, who can nevertheless take initiative and lead as necessary, delivering the highest levels of quality.
Essential Functions30% - Manage early childhood projects, coordinating across stakeholders, tracking progress, report writing, etc.30% - Coordinate and produce digital education resources20% - Conduct background research and carry out project development efforts10% - Develop and steward relationships with prospective partners and stakeholders10% - Support overall department goals including representation in internal and external settings, and other duties, as assigned
Minimum Experience Required• Minimum 3-5 years program coordination/management or production/product development• Deep familiarity with early childhood education/learning• Savvy regarding educational technologies/media• Experience working in a collaborative, cross-functional team setting• Experience working and developing programs with diverse, underserved populations• Direct experience either developing or implementing innovative educational programs either in-school or out-of-school/in communities
Preferred Experience• Content knowledge in one of these areas: STEM, social-emotional development, early literacy• Fluency in language/s in addition to English• Basic familiarity with education/social science research
Skills Required• Early childhood education field knowledge; educational media/tech knowledge• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present ideas effectively and persuasively, both in public and in writing – for a variety of expert, professional, funder, and lay audiences• Production or product development or program development• Tech-savviness and basic design/production skills to create one-sheets, presentation decks, wireframes, etc.• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team• Sensitivity to a diverse range of peers and ability to troubleshoot challenges that may arise• Ability to work quickly and creatively under deadline• Entrepreneurial predilection• Detail-oriented, organized, efficient, and able to juggle multiple priorities• Quick learner with an analytic mindset - ability to quickly grasp and synthesize vast amounts of information and draw incisive, insightful, actionable conclusions• Open-minded, learning orientation -- interested in learning new things, willingness to learn from mistakes, recognizes role boundaries, but takes initiative and can lead when needed
