Manager of Special Events

Description:
The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation’s Development Department seeks to hire five new development professionals at an exciting time in the institution’s expansion. In 2017, the JFK Library commemorated the Centennial birth of President Kennedy with local and national programs including a capstone event honoring President Barrack Obama with the Profile in Courage Award. Building from that success, the Foundation is currently developing a new strategic plan to advance its mission by introducing President Kennedy’s legacy of bold leadership and public service to new audiences. As part of the new strategic plan, the Foundation will partner next year with major national corporations and government agencies such as NASA to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing. This work will require a team excited and committed to successfully raising the funds needed for operating support as well as new initiatives and other planned special events. When hiring is complete, the Kennedy Library Foundation’s Development Department will comprise ten fundraising professionals led by a seasoned Vice President of Development who has led the Foundation’s fundraising efforts for the last seven years.


The Manager of Special Events is responsible for overseeing the Development Department’s special events and providing support to other events hosted by the Kennedy Library Foundation. This position will have responsibility for the successful planning and execution of the Kennedy Library’s annual May Dinner fundraising gala. This position requires special attention to detail and requires collaboration with Foundation Board Members comprised of C-suite executives and their staff.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead all logistics and implementation for the May Dinner, including but not limited to: budget preparation and tracking, vendor relations, list and recognition/logo management, guest name and sponsorship tracking, printed and digital collateral, website posting, seating, remarks, co-chair stewardship and support, and more
  • Support Vice President of Development in all May Dinner fundraising efforts
  • Supervise execution of all other Development events including collaboration with the New Frontier Network Manager to assist with the successful hosting of New Frontier Network events on an as needed basis
  • Coordinate quarterly Development Committee meetings as weekly Development staff meetings
  • Assist with additional special projects
  • Responsible for managing all donor stewardship inclusive of special events, donor hospitality, communications, donor gifts, and fund reports
  • Work with graphic designer on invitation design, programs, and other printed materials for events
  • Ensure and monitor timeliness of special events invitations and communications
  • Manage sponsor benefits and stewardship tracker(s) for high level donors
  • Manage Development section of Foundation e-newsletter
  • Work closely with Development Assistant to ensure monitoring of event guests lists
  • Supervise Development assistant in execution of on-site donor and prospect meetings
  • Ensure benefits fulfillment and appropriate recognition for donors in Foundation materials
