Associate Curator of Education and Experience


Worcester Art Museum seeks an exceptional Associate Curator of Education and Experience to plan, supervise, implement and evaluate Education and Experience Department programs, events, and docent training.

The Associate Curator of Education and Experience will organize and oversee project teams for all public events, including planning, implementation, and evaluation; oversee Public and Internal Events Coordinator’s work on events, and manage the Public and Internal Events Coordinator and Education Programming Coordinator positions. Other duties include: participating in exhibition development teams, developing strategies and implementing plans to promote and grow programs, managing docent training, including docent continuing education, exhibition gallery talks, and new docent training; evaluating docent performance and implementing improvement plans; and periodically recruiting new docents.


The successful candidate will have a M.A. in art, art history, museum studies, or related field; a minimum of three years museum or teaching background is preferred as well as at minimum one year supervisory and budgeting experience required. The incumbent will possess excellent writing and public speaking skills, general knowledge of public education, strong organizational and management skills, the ability to work with volunteers, sensitivity to and interest in the needs of all audiences, and the ability to estimate and monitor budgets.
