Development Assistant

Description:

The Development Assistant is an integral member of deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum’s fundraising efforts. Working closely with the Deputy Director for External Affairs and the Museum’s Development team, the Development Assistant is responsible for providing support for all of deCordova’s fundraising efforts.


Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage, maintain, and update the Raiser’s Edge donor database;
  • Process, track, and file all philanthropic gifts;
  • Coordinate annual fund appeals and manage all mailing lists;
  • Coordinate Give Day appeals;
  • Create timely and accurate tax-acknowledgement letters and reminders for all gifts and pledges;
  • Support committee meetings, including Development Committees, Overseer Council Committee, Benefit Committee, and other committees as assigned. Support includes preparing meeting agendas, minutes, packets, and correspondence. Generates and distributes minutes in a timely way;
  • Provide excellent customer service to donors by phone, written correspondence, and in-person;
  • Assist with prospect research as needed;
  • Provide general support with the coordination of the annual Benefit, including processing and acknowledging tickets/tables and sponsorships.
  • Provide marketing and public relations support to Head of Marketing and Communications;
  • Other projects and duties as assigned related to the operations of the External Affairs department.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through self-directed learning through seminars, workshops, and conferences (as institutional budget allows).
Qualifications:
  • Strong database management skills including data entry, query building, and reports;
  • Strong attention to detail and appreciation of the importance of accurate, usable data;
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize, and problem-solve;
  • Must have the ability to work independently, as part of a team, and to anticipate next steps;
  • Excellent written and verbal skills required including customer service skills;
  • Ability to converse with a wide variety of constituents in a professional manner and work collegially with all levels and departments within the organization
  • Must maintain the highest level of confidentiality, discretion, and judgement;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
  • This position requires working occasional night, evenings, and weekends.
