Artisan’s Asylum seeks a part-time bookkeeper responsible for handling the fundamental aspects of the organization’s financial record keeping, including recording financial transactions, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, and working with our auditors and other staff to complete annual tax forms. This part-time position is 25 hours/wk with additional time expected during the audit.
Regular bank reconciliation, data entry, general ledger operations, analysis of accounts.
A/P – invoice reconciliation, check writing, and vendor payments.
Purchasing -Make purchases and enter recurring purchases as needed.
A/R – invoice members and process all payments received, handle collections, prepare financial reports
Personnel – Set up new employees and contractors with external payroll company. Record payroll transactions in our system. Track sick and vacation leave.
Contributions – Track cash and non-cash donations. Manage restricted funds and a variety of internal and external grant programs.
Inventory – Record assets and maintain depreciation schedule.
Reporting –Prepare financial statements and reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheet and other schedules as requested.Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
Assist auditors and staff during the audit process.
Recommend, update and maintain financial policies, accounting control procedures, and electronic and manual filing systems.
Comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements, tax filings.
Other tasks as assigned
3-5 years of experience with a solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
Hands-on experience utilizing a variety of software packages, and willingness to learn new platforms
Experience managing a large number of customer accounts
Background in non-profit accounting strongly preferred
Must demonstrate a commitment to accuracy and timeliness of work
Strong communication skills
