Communications Manager

Description:

The part-time Communications Manager will work an average of 12 hours/week and collaborate with the Managing Director and Program Manager to continue the success of the organization. The ideal candidate will possess extremely strong writing skills, marketing know-how, social media savvy, an interest in many art forms, and a confident yet diplomatic demeanor. We are looking for someone who is interested in fostering and promoting Gallery 263’s existing brand and mission, as well as working working collaboratively with our staff and board to explore new ideas and avenues for the organization’s future growth.


Marketing & Outreach Responsibilities


  • Develop and execute organizational marketing strategy in dialogue with staff and board

  • Liaise with Board of Directors’ Marketing and Fundraising committees to help execute fundraising campaigns as well as write and develop promotional materials for special events

  • Update Gallery 263's online calendar, performance, events, and fundraising pages

  • Draft, edit, and build two e-newsletters each month

  • Develop social media content (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and engage with followers

  • Write, edit, and distribute press releases in consultation with Program Manager

  • Develop and maintain relationships with media contacts


Additional staff-wide responsibilities:


  • Assist with maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of Gallery 263

  • Schedule and staff open gallery hours

  • Attend weekly staff meetings and monthly meetings with staff and Executive Board members

  • Attend quarterly meetings with Board of Directors and committee meetings as needed

  • Engage in strategic planning with staff and Board of Directors

  • Develop and facilitate partnerships with other local organizations, associations, and businesses

Qualifications:
  • Excellent writing and organizational skills

  • Passion for the arts and for fostering local culture in the community

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in marketing, communications, or the arts

  • Marketing, social media, and website experience; proficiency with WordPress CMS preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and creatively

  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers, artists, and musicians

  • Flexibility to work some nights and weekends

  • Graphic design skills (including knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) a plus

  • A good sense of humor goes a long way
