Auction House Catalog Associate
A busy North Shore auction house is seeking a full-time catalog associate. The catalog associate will be responsible for cataloging 6 plus 500 lot auctions per year. He/She will manage the catalog portions of our auction database, website, and online bidding platforms. In addition to cataloging, the catalog associate will be required to act as the primary contact between consignors/buyers and department heads and provide administrative support for the Appraisal department. He/She will write text for promotional materials and assist with the production and proofreading of ads and catalogs. Other duties include: completing condition reports prior to each auction, providing front desk/service during auctions, and some on-site inventorying.
Above all a successful candidate will have a
demonstrated interest in the auction business, antiques, and/or art history. He/She should possess a zealous disposition, a confident “can-do”
attitude. Also required: BS/BA
in Art History or related studies strongly preferred with at least 1 year
experience in a professional work environment. Excellent
writing and proofreading skills with a familiarity in art historical terms. Superior
organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced
environment. Knowledge of Microsoft
Outlook, Word and Excel, and an ability to learn new programs with efficiency
and ease. Strong customer service and
keen communication skills. Ability to
meet deadlines under pressure . Willingness
to work some evenings and weekend day per month to fulfill auction help
