Business Manager / Bookkeeper

Description:
The Business Manager reports to the Executive Director of Historic Newton which is a partnership between the non-profit Newton Historical Society and the City of Newton, with two museums, 11 staff and a $450,000 budget. S/he is responsible for financial record keeping and reporting to the Finance and Audit Committees of the Board of Directors; annual budget preparation and monthly reporting; preparation of materials for audit and tax forms; A/R and A/P; management of grant reporting including government funding; management of benefits and administration of payroll; reconciliation of bank statements and fund-raising reports; preparation of cash flow reports; remaining current on nonprofit accounting issues and industry best practices. This is a part-time position of 10 - 15 hours per week; or an opportunity for a consultant. 
Qualifications:
Qualifications:  Experience with non-profit accounting and reporting procedures. An Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent experience. Full knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles. Comprehensive knowledge of and expertise with QuickBooks is essential. Detail oriented with strong initiative, problem-solving, and communication skills.
