Early Childhood Music Teacher - Meet the Instruments

Description:

NEMPAC is seeking an early childhood classroom music instructor who loves working with children and influencing their child development through music! He/she will teach at one of our NEMPAC partnership sites, the Good Shepherd Nursery School in Charlestown, MA. He/She will also teach an afternoon class, Meet the Instruments Jr (ages 3-5). to the school's after school program.  He/she may also teach early education classes at NEMPAC in the North End as well. The expectation is that children will have a class environment that is positive and exciting with instruction that is both fun and educational. We are seeking a versatile instructor who can introduce guitar, voice, drums, and keyboard to the students. Instructor MUST love working with children and also incorporate general music games, movement games, and music theory instruction into their class.


Instructor will also be responsible for working with the Educational Programs Director of NEMPAC to coordinate a few instructional days where a guest musician will be featured to instruct on specialized instruments such as Brass, Strings, and Woodwinds. Must have good organization and communication skills. 

Qualifications:

-Instructor should have at least 2 years in-classroom experience teaching early childhood music education classes to children ages 2 to 5.

-Instructor should LOVE working with children

-Instructor will be energetic, engaging, and have a sense of humor

-Instructor will have excellent time management skills, have thought out lesson plans, and enjoy working with the ‘specialist’ or guest music instructors

-Instructor availability on Thursdays and/or Saturdays is preferred

-Instructor will have a Bachelors degree in Music Education, Performance, or another relevant field.
